We are excited to announce that Angelica Mesiti’s new work The Calling opens on the 4th February at ACMI. The Calling is a poignant exploration of whistling languages, an ancient human tradition which is evolving and adapting to the modern world. The work was filmed in Kuskoy in Northern Turkey, the island of La Gomera in The Canary Islands and the Island of Evia in Greece, where whistling languages are still in use.

This work is the inaugural recipient of the Ian Potter Moving Image Commission. It was produced by Jodie Passmore and executive produced by Bridget Ikin.
